Herman Ziegler
Herman Ziegler, 1923 - 2006, was born in Visalia after his parents had immigrated from Germany. He played football at Fresno State and graduated with a degree in criminology. After boxing in the army, Coach Ziegler began teaching at Visalia High School (now Redwood). He came to Woodlake High School as Vice Principal in 1957, retiring in 1988. Coach Ziegler was known for being fair and always attending high school sporting events. He was also a Woodlake Lions Club member and could be found taking tickets at the gate of the annual rodeo. Coach Ziegler was married to Irene for 47 years and had one daughter, Sandra, who is now retired and living in Albuquerque, NM. He has a large extended family, including grandchildren, great grandchildren, and one great great granddaughter. Coach Ziegler is missed by all who benefited from his guidance over his lifetime.
