Linda Ledesma Memorial Scholarship

Ermelinda (Linda) Vasquez Ledesma was born in San José on March 7, 1956, and passed in Woodlake on September 8, 2023. A proud Chicana, Linda was an activist in her youth who marched with César Chávez and Dolores Huerta. Linda was also passionate about volunteering. She was known to help single mothers in need and those who were down on their luck. Linda, aka “La Loca,” was a warrior for her family and community. Additionally, La Loca was a remarkable storyteller and greatly enjoyed creative writing.

In memory of her legacy, Linda’s husband Manuel and children Casandra, Sal, and Sergio are honored to have this scholarship to support students with the same spirit of advocating for and helping others and/or telling stories through writing.

Criteria: Student must demonstrate meaningful community service work and/or dynamic creative writing skills.
