How to Apply for a Scholarship

Deadline: Friday, January 20, 2023 at 3:00PM
Please be sure to submit your application via Google Form BEFORE January 20, 2023 AND turn in the printed application with required signatures and additional documents by 3:00pm on Friday, January 20, 2023 to the counseling office.
Eligibility Criteria:
Minimum weighted cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher
Plan to attend a 2 or 4 year college, university, private school or trade program in the 2022-2023 academic school year.
Have the total 85 Youth Service Learning hours completed, submitted and approved in Helper Helper by January 20th at 3:00 p.m.
Attend a Scholarship Application Interview in March. (WHS Counseling will contact you with a date and time of your interview.)
Required Documents:
The cover sheet with your signature
Resume (May use the one from your E-Portfolio, make sure it is updated)
1 to 2 page Essay that includes educational and personal goals, and need for financial assistance for college. (You can use your Letter of Introduction you wrote for your E-Portfolio and adjust it to include your need for financial assistance. Please describe any special circumstances that may affect your family’s ability to pay for school; medical costs, divorce, unemployment, child support etc.)
1 to 3 Letter(s) of Recommendation from teachers or community members. (You may use one you have collected already for your Portfolio.)

For a student with good GPA & in financial need with a strong desire to go on to 4 year university.
A scholarship has been established in memory of Brittany Rivas Wolfe (Class of 2005) for a Woodlake High School senior who will attend college in the fall.
George Clausen is a Woodlake fixture. Scholarship awarded to a a student who needs financial assistance. Preference to students going into military or agriculture.
A scholarship has been established in memory of Darcie Pena (Class of 2007) for a Woodlake High School senior who will attend college for early childhood education.
Dennis Conner definitely left a lasting mark on the Woodlake High School culture! His quiet style of leadership and careful planning helped sell his ideas to the administration, staff, parents, students, and the WHS School Board. Dennis retired in 2004 after thirty-five years of dedication to Woodlake High School.
For student(s) who will be majoring in the field of Mechanics, Engineering or Transportation.
Applicant must be multi sport athletes (at least two) for all 4 years of high school. They need not be the best, but the ones who played with the most heart while playing the sports.
Awarded to a student with financial need who comes from an immigrant family or farm labor family.
English learner, or RFEP, or student who needs has financial need with a minimum GPA of 2.5.
Honoring a legend from Woodlake High School. Scholarship awarded to a good WHS student involved in sports, and involved in Community Service
For student(s) who have exceptional community service and/or exceptional creative writing skills.
Richard represented the good that we all need every day in our lives. We may forget some of the things he said or did, but we will never forget the way he made us feel.
He loved to say when asked what he did for a living he was a “Wagon peddler” farmer and journeyman ditch digger for son Jeffrey’s business.
In memory of Ms. Kihn, a WHS math teacher for 31 years. Student must be interested in majoring or minoring in mathematics.
In honor of Steve Sweeney, for students who are going into a Trade profession and have an athletic background.
